I was walking out one winter night from the Visual Arts Center at Springfield College and suddenly the sky was black with crows. The noise and visual turmoil of what appeared to be thousands and thousands of crows was tremendous.

I was seeing the winter roosting area of Western New England's crows. I felt inspired to find out more about these birds, and to create a series of artworks based on my research about their habits and the mythology that surrounds them.
